About the Author
Terrell Ward Bynum is Director of the Research Center on Computing & Society at Southern Connecticut State University. For 25 years, he was editor-in-chief of the scholarly journal Metaphilosophy. Among his many publications, he is co-editor, with James H. Moor, of The Digital Phoenix: How Computers are Changing Philosophy (Blackwell, 1998) and CyberPhilosophy: The Intersection of Philosophy and Computing (Blackwell, 2002).

Simon Rogerson is Director of the Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility and Professor of Computer Ethics at De Montfort University. He is a co-editor of the scholarly journal Information, Communication and Ethics in Society. Among other publications, he is the author of Ethical Aspects of Information Technology: Issues for Senior Executives (1998) and a co-author of Strategic Management Support Systems (1996).

Good collection

I am teaching Professional Practice in Computer Science and, as part of preparing for the course, I read several of the available texts. While I did not find anything compelling for the way I wanted to teach the course, I was impressed by Bynum's edited
collection. It covers a broad spectrum of ethics in the field and I was able to use it to help structure the class and individual lectures.

As with many collections, the papers/chapters vary in clarity and interest but overall this book serves as a good introduction to the foundations of computer and information system ethics (making the argument that the computer does add new, under-appreciated dimensions to classical ethics). The next time I teach the course I will be using an ethics textbook and Bynum's is right near the top when I consider what to adopt.

Wealth of information

I am an academic and have used previous editions of Mallis as preparation for writing and presentations and legal documents. The new (10th) edition is up to date and provides me with state of the art information for updating my teaching and writing projects. For my next expert witness case, I'm sure that I will rely on Mallis 10 as a starting point to draft documents or prepare for deposition and/or court room testimony.

Motivation is the driving force that persuades a person to act in a certain way. Throughout the pages of this dissertation it showcases an amazing contrast between academically-related intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. The target age group consisted of students in grades four through nine and involved 57 gifted students verses 53 learning disabled students.

How a student becomes motivated in the classroom is a vital element to a student’s future success. As an instructor it is crucial that the educator takes time to educate themselves of this important learning concept.

A COMPARISON OF INTRINSIC AND EXTRINSIC CLASSROOM MOTIVALTIONAL ORIENTATIONS OF GIFTED AND LEARNING DISABLED STUDENTS provides a very thorough look into analyzing motivation and how it applies to different students. I feel this dissertation contains priceless information that can be of benefit to any educator. It is simple to understand and provides a wealth of knowledge and examples that can be used in any education setting.

Very Helpful Dissertation on Student Motivation

As an English grad and new teacher in the beginning of my career, I found Dr. Skollingsberg's dissertation on extrinsic and intrinsic motivation among students incredibly valuable, especially in my line of work. I have studied other dissertations and theses during my educational career, but this one stands out as being more useful than dull like many others.

The topic and study of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation among gifted and learning disabled students in middle and high school is of special interest to me and I discovered many new ways of looking at student motivation in order to develop my classroom management skills, so that is very much appreciated.

What's more is that Dr. Skollingsberg's information is not only detailed and organized, but easy to understand. I didn't have to hunt for his information, purpose, or findings, so I was able to actually enjoy the work.

Much appreciated for my own academic development and understanding of students.

Misled and lied to.

Book was listed as new.

Received book very used and missing software. New books come with appropriate software. It was a scam. I need book now or I would return it.

I will never use this source again for school texts and advise all my student friends not to use it. I also work at the Veterans center at school, and will advise my fellow Veterans not to use as it is a ripoff and a scam.

I was deceived and lied to.

Although the broad outline is the same as The Five Chinese Brothers by Claire Huchet Bishop, illustrated by Kurt Wiese (first published in 1938), Mahy's stirring retelling is very different from and just as good as the earlier effort. She has elaborated on the story, spicing it with more action and adding ironic humor. Replete with striking character portraits, the Tsengs' dramatic watercolors evoke the Orient and provide authentic, historical details. As in all fine picture books, text and illustrations blend, creating an inviting world for young readers and listeners and heightening the story's dramatic impact. Children will be caught up in the many narrow escapes and will benefit from the subtle lesson on the importance of working together. Ages 4-8.

Kindergarten-Grade 4-- The seven brothers walk, talk, and look alike, but each has his own special power. When the third brother runs afoul of the emperor and is sentenced to be beheaded, the fourth brother, who has bones of iron, takes his place. The emperor then tries drowning and burning but each time a different brother foils his scheme. Mahy retells this traditional Chinese tale in graceful, witty prose. She uses classic storytelling elements to their best advantage and, without any attempt to imitate Chinese syntax, her choice of words gives a feeling of time and place. Both jacket notes and an editor's foreword give background information about the tale. Beginning with the cover, which shows the smiling brothers looming over a cowering emperor, the Tsengs' rich watercolors complement and enhance the story. With great skill, they interweave elements of ancient Chinese painting with lively pictorial storytelling. The emperor, encased in voluminous ceremonial robes, is an embodiment of corrupt yet insecure power, and the beautiful faces of the seven brothers, although alike, glow with life. Many readers will be familiar with the classic Claire Bishop/Kurt Wiese version of the The Five Chinese Brothers (Coward-McCann, 1938). The style of both text and illustrations is so different from the Mahy/Tseng book that comparisions are inappropriate. Margaret Mahy (1936-2012) worked as a librarian in her native New Zealand before becoming a full-time writer in 1980. Still a fun story to read after all these years

This was my favorite book when I was in the 3rd grade. I bought it for my 8 year old grandson who is starting the 3rd grade. After it arrived, we read it together and I think it is now at least one of his favorite children book too. It gave me the same feelings I got when I read it for the first time many years ago.

Avoids the stereotypes of the earlier version

I won't spend my time discussing the storyline, since most readers will be familiar with it.
This book is better than the earlier version of "Seven Chinese Brothers" I grew up with, yet it lack that book's superior pacing and melodic flow.
But still, this book is the better one in that it is conscious of the stereotypes permeating throughout the earlier version and thus eliminates them.
The ending could have been stronger since it seems to end hanging in mid-air.
The illustrations are superior to the previous version with an Asian-influenced use of watercolor.
The main problem is that, overall, the book doesn't disappoint, yet nor does it impress. A solid, somewhat lackluster book.

About the Author
Raffi (n� Hakob Melik-Hakobian) was born in 1835 in Bayajuk, near Salmas, in northwestern Persia. He died in Tiflis in 1888. He was a prolific and popular writer who contributed to Krikor Ardzrouni's Tiflis-based liberal periodical, Mshak (Cultivator). Among his other principal works of fiction are Jalaleddin, Gharib Mshetsi (The exile from Moush), Khachagoghi Hishatakarane (The diary of a cross-stealer), Kaitzer (Sparks), Davit Bek, and Samuel.

Donald Abcarian was born and raised in Fresno, California, where his family was part of the extensive Armenian-American community that has settled there since the turn of the century. His earliest influences, including the Armenian language, derived from that milieu. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in philosophy, and has pursued a lifelong interest in languages and world literature.

Having studied several European languages over the years, Abcarian in 1996 took up the challenge of learning to decipher the written language of his ancestors. This translation is the culmination of that process.

I could not put it down, emotional sexy passionate. I started reading and could not stop till I finished, I would recommend this to anyone who loves shifters especially sexy stubborn alpha' s hell bent on claiming their mate.

Great new edition to the Werewolves of Montana..
Aiden has wanted Nikita for his mate for as long as he has known her.. And he sets in motion the mating challenge to win her and prove that he is right for her. He wins the challenge and her hand....Little does he know that her sister Nia has been passing herself off as Nikita for years..
Nia tries to get the wolf pack off her land anyway she can, so the terrible secret she hides can be solved before any more deaths occur.
Love the Werewolves of Montana series.. Can't wait for the next.

The Mating challenge is the 5th book in the werewolves of Montana series By Bonnie Vanak. I have to say I was super excited when I found out I was getting the chance to review this book. I have been waiting for it for what seems like forever! The entire series is a great read with not only the sexy shifters I have grown to love, but a whole new world of Magic and fairytales. I was hooked from the first book on and this one was just as great as the others, if not better.

From the moment Aiden saw the alpha of the Blakemore pack, Nikita, he knew she was the one for him and vowed to stop at nothing to get her, but the Nikita Blakemore that Aiden knows is not truly who she pretends to be and when he finds out the truth it may already be too late. Will Aiden find out the truth in time or will his fate be sealed by an early death because he found out too late?

Disguised as Nikita, Nia the younger twin sister has spent her entire life protecting her sister from the clutches of the Silver Wizard, but that is not the only secret these two hold. A mysterious curse has been put on their land that kills all adult males and unless these two can find the cure Nia’s new mate, Aiden will die.

There is so much mystery in this book! I was hooked from the beginning and you will be to. Shifters, mystery, magic, love and devotion, what more can you ask for in one book? I have grown quite fond of Aiden so I was on his side the entire time. I mean who wouldn’t want a strong, sexy, confident shifter, right?? As for Nia, I was weary of her at first since I knew how much Aiden wanted her and I couldn’t have her go breaking his heart now could I? But alas, she is quite lovable and a truly devoted sister, daughter and lover so I think Bonnie did a great job with both of them and this story. I can’t wait to see where the next book takes us… Hopefully Tristan and Nikita!!
