I was not disappointed by this book

I was not disappointed by this book. I have read Mike Leon's other books and they are all pretty good but this one is pretty much the best. It really shows that the author is growing as a writer and and he is really comfortable in the authors shoes. First off, he toned down some of the violence that other reviewers complained about in "Kill Kill Kill" but honestly I didn't have an issue with that given the title I expected mega violence. This feels like a movie. Flat out action from the 90's with a touch of great characterization.

With that out of the way just pick it up. You will have a good time with a fast read.

A winner for sure

Wow, this book really keeps the pace when it gets good. Beginning is a bit on the site side I admit, but it gets better, and better, and finishes off well. This is your usual slasher book with good characters and suspense. It doesn't have too many plot twists that make you roll your eyes until you're dizzy, but it fits have some excellent cliffhanger situations that keep you interested. Mike Leon, you did a fine job here.

Mike Leon does it again. Just like Kill Kill Kill, this book has it all. The characters were believable and had great depth, the plot never left me bored, and the movie theme was brilliantly executed and did well to enhance the action. I look forward to reading the next installment in the series.

About the Author

Wu Zhangjin

Wu Zhangjin studied Computer Science and Technology at Lanzhou University and obtained his Master's degree in Distributed and Embedded System in 2010. He has been a Linux user and developer since 2004 and co-founded the Open Source Community of Lanzhou University in 2006. He is an active open source contributor, launched the Linux-Loongson/Communicty Project in 2009, and up-streamed more than 100 patches to Linux mainline. His contributions are mainly related to MIPS and Loongson architecture and features such as Ftrace, Real Time Pre-emption, and compressed kernel image support. He re-activated the Tiny-Linux kernel project in 2011. He also developed other open source projects such as VnStatSVG and TP4CELL.

He worked for a Chinese Loongson CPU application company and a world-leading embedded system company and now works on Linux system optimization for a leading Chinese Android smartphone company.

Currently, his main focus includes real-time systems, Linux RAS, power saving, system fastboot, system-size optimization, and kernel debugging and tracing.

Cao Ziqiang

Cao Ziqiang has been a Linux fan since 2004, and has more than 8 years' experience in using the Linux operating system. Especially experienced in the video program network program in C/C++ under Linux at the beginning and then majored in Linux kernel and device driver development. In recent years, he has paid more attention to system stability and robustness, and has worked for a smartphone company which uses Android as their main software platform. He is good at analyzing and resolving problems in the development procedure by using Linux functions such as toolbox, Busybox, and some other open source projects in the Linux community. He was a participant to test and fix bugs in the Google Samsung kernel community. This is his first book as a co-writer, which is part of the sharing experience and he will not stop sharing.

The Jewish partisan unit to which Werner, who died in 1989, belonged--some 400 men and women led by a man named Chiel Grynszpan--operated in the woods of eastern Poland during WW II. Grynszpan's guerrillas performed acts of sabotage against the Germans (blowing up trains, convoys, bridges) and rescued Jews from the Wlodawa ghetto. When the Germans retreated, the Jewish partisans executed Polish civilians who had betrayed Jews in hiding to the Germans during the occupation. The most awesome aspect of this memoir is its stark depiction of the ferocious Polish anti-Semitism before and during the war. Nor did it abate after the war. Werner, who emigrated to the U.S., learned that two of his brothers had been clubbed to death by villagers when they returned to their homes. A valuable telling of history.

Thanks to Harold Werner for retelling these events from his deathbed. I read the book in an evening and could not put it down. I am very proud to know that people such as Mr. Werner fought back no matter what the odds. Not only does he write about battles and suffering, but he also writes of the community he grew up with, the people he loved, how people made their living, and how they related to their neighbors.

Gripping story of Jewish resistance to Nazi persecution

This true story takes place in Poland during the late 1930s thru 1946.The main character is a young man named Harold.The trials he experiences prior to WW2 are nothing compaired to the radical changes his life undergoes during the Nazi occupation.There were several things that I enjoyed most about this book.It is scary to realise how treacherous people can be to each other but it is encouraging to see how the human spirit rises to such adverse circumstances.You will follow his life from living in the city to hiding in the forests of Poland while being hunted by villagers and Nazis.Fear and hunger were common among this group of partsians.I found this story easy to read and relate to. This story can parallel any group of people who are oppressed.

We may find this book funny now, but as a 19-year old I got a hold of this book and read it cover to cover. Since we all know how pathetic sex education in schools or from our parents is, it's not surprising how much this book taught me about my body and what to expect from a man as I was coming of age. Even though it is written for a man, as a young woman it was great to learn what to learn ways to get turned on and how to encourage my boyfriend to be a better lover.
